The wagon for some time has lost its appeal but it is back in business now at least partially. In the United States, studies show that consumers are starting to value the functionality of the wagon again and are starting to veer away from gas guzzling SUVs. Lexus wants to capitalize on this trend thus the estate IS.

The Japanese carmaker takes note that the C Class of Mercedes-Benz and the 3-Series of the BMW are set to launch their third edition by 2011. The current model of the IS which was rolled out in 2005 has not been made available as a wagon. The move to produce a wagon will help the brand compete in Europe.

The last time we saw an IS looking like a wagon was during its first run when they introduced the SportCross.

If ever the move to produce the wagon variant will push through, it will be launched by 2011 as a 2012 model. To further push for better sales in North America, Lexus is taking the direction of making the entire range as hybrid only units.

The details about this move of Lexus are very limited. We will keep you posted with regard to developments. If there is really something in the works, we might be seeing spy shots soon.

Models of the cars furnished with the future products are on exhibit at the said show, with their own Lexus stand.

The Lexus IS 350 in considered to have an improved performance and style on the first line of the IS sports car. It has strong V6 engine, quick reflexes, uncompromising exterior style and contains the latest gadgets. Meanwhile, the Lexus IS 250 is packed with V6 engine also, and releases a generous amount of 205 horsepower and with an all-aluminum convertible top. IS 250 has also climate control airflow system that is sensitive on speed.

The Lexus models are enhanced by Toyota Racing Development. The said car parts will enable customers to improve and boost their cars’ capacity through its chassis, power and suspension advancement. The parts are protected by full warranty which is 12 months or the remaining of the warranty of the new car when it is installed by confirmed Lexus center.

Parts offered include brake kits, air intakes, short shifters and performance exhausts. For suspension upgrade, they have lowered springs, chassis braces, shock absorbers and sway bars. And finally, for F-sport accessories, they have the floor mats, shift knobs and engine covers.

Company officials did not reveal much about the cars but just the usual “a notch better than the older generation” line. Leaked pictures of the RX though show that it is longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. The RX and the hybrid will be offered with excellent safety features, technology, comfort, and luxury. The RX 350 will be released to the market in 2009.

The Lexus 2010 IS convertible will also be welcomed to the North American market during the LA auto show on November 19. The IS 350 and 250C both have 3 panel aluminum roofing which opens in a matter of seconds.

The 250C has a 2.5L V6 engine with an output of 204 horse power. It is coupled with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The IS 350C has a 3.5L V6 power plant that boasts of 306hp.

All-wheel drive luxury sedans from Lexus will also be featured during the auto show. The 2009 models of the LS 460 and LS 460 L will be unveiled. Both cars are available in long wheel base version or the standard type.

The LS range features great stability and traction performance that can be attributed to the Limited Slip Differential or LSD. The TORSEN LSD is specifically designed to distribute the drive torque between the sets of front and back wheels.
